Revitalising Cooperation with Germany

Besides the University of Bremen, Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) has now a new German partner. On 22 November 2016, the acting Vice-Chancellor of UTHM, Professor Dr. Wahid Bin Razzaly, signed a Letter of Intent for academic collaboration with Prof. Dr.-Ing. Joerg Hoffmann who heads the International Office at the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science at Osnabrueck University of Applied Sciences in Germany. During the ceremony, Prof. Hoffmann has handed over an incoming grant to a UTHM student for studying Quality Engineering at Osnabrueck University of Applied Sciences for one semester in 2017. The collaboration will be formalised by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding next year. Prof. Hoffmann also delivered an open lecture with the title “Industry 4.0 and its Influence on Engineering Education”, and visited some advanced facilities in the UTHM main campus in Johor.

 

Keynote Address in Germany

Prof. Madya Dr Shahruddin Bin Mahzan, delivered a keynote speech entitiled “Natural Fibre Reinforced Composite and Structural Health Monitoring: Possible or Feasible” in the 3rd International Conference on System-Integrated Intelligence: New Challenges for Product and Production Engineering which took place during June 13th (Mon.) until 15th (Wed.) 2016 in Paderborn, Germany.

The other keynote speakers include Prof. Trächtler (Paderborn), Prof. Denkena (Hannover), Prof. O‘Hare (Dublin), Dr. Volkwein (Siemens), Prof. Correll (Colorado), Prof. Freitag (Bremen), Mr. Ahle (Atos) and Prof. Sinapius (Braunschweig).
